| My brand new vw jetta's brakes are squeeking.? | | Published by: rose 2008-11-20 |
| i have had my vehicle about 6wks now and it has 1500 miles on it about 2wks ago i took it in to the dealership because what seems to be the back brakes are squeeking loudly every once in a while. its kind of embarrassing. they told me it was normal wear in and there is nothing wrong. the vehicle is manual and the parking brake is used frequently as well. it just doesnt make sense to me that a brand new car would be doing this. please help before i call and complain for possibly no reason.
thank you
well brake do squeak sometimes and sometimes there not much one can do for it.. new car like that it shouldnt squeak any at all... but not knowing now you brake or drive it could have gaze over the brake pads which is not bad but it wil cause you to have a squeak sometimes id still have it at shop to have them replace brake pads and brake lightly for like a week would help... keep them from doing it.. its you know your going to have to stop let off gas slow down then brake and dont have your foot on pedal anytime unless your stopping... take it back to dealer tel the the brakes are squeaking and you want them to fix it... they should if not live with it,.. and wait til they bad and hope they dont do it again so soon but many do Auto Parts - 1999-2006 VW Golf Jetta Power Window Regulator w/o :: Does not Include Motor Driver Side Front Brand NEW fitting the following years and We make it easy to find and buy 1999-2006 VW Golf Jetta Power Window http://autoparts.pricegrabber.com/ecu-electronic-parts/m/73764783/HOME | F*!?!? thats german engineering for you
Basically there can be two slight problems causing this whic are as follows:
New brake pads can get sharp edges, so all that needs to be done is remove the pads and take the edge off with a file this usually cures the problem.
Or a manufacturing fault can be that there is too much metal in the pads themselves in which case they should be changed under warranty. Get the work done by a garage and a garage only.
Is it squealing first thing in the morning? Once you drive for a couple of minutes, does it stop? If yes, then it is most likely condensation (water) on your brakes. It really gets bad when it rains and you first start driving. Once the brakes dry out, the noise should go away. And yes, it is normal. If this is not what is happening, then by all means, complain. yeah I agree with the answerer above that is not normal esp. for a brand new car and vw of all cars. The first thing that comes to mind is have they checked the brake fluid? and if that's fine how are the pads looking? I suggest going to another reputable garage for a second opinion.
loud enough to be noticed...how many other cars on the road do you hear making same sound???NONE...dont let them tell you its normal..
Actually Disk Brakes Do make noises, the common problem is that the brake pads are not properly Broken in. Have You ever drove off and then noticed the E-brake was still on a few feet later?
