Goel will serve as president of the new India facility.
The expansion into India is intended to complement Network Appliance's growing worldwide footprint, the company said Monday.

Network Appliance maintains four global support centers in Europe, Singapore, and two facilities in the U.S.
According to Dan Warmenhoven, CEO of Network Appliance, the reason for the recent expansion into India is because 'everybody else is doing it.'
"We need to be close to that development work, and closer to our customers in all parts of the world," said Warmenhoven. "Increasing our investment in India strengthens our leadership position in enterprise storage and expands our global capabilities."
Network Appliance will begin staffing the new facility by June.
