Rogers@Home Subscribers Increasing at High Speed

Published by: wktd 2009-01-08
Rogers Cable has now passed the 200,000 figure for Rogers@Home high speed Internet access via cable customers.

The growth of this product continues to gain momentum as the following numbers indicate.

At the end of December 31, 1998, there were just over 54,000 Rogers@Home customers. Fourteen months later in February, the number stands at the 200,000--an increase of 300 percent.

This makes Rogers@Home the fastest growing high speed Internet provider in North America.

"This pace of growth indicates the high demand for this product," said Alek Krstajic, Senior Vice President, Rogers Interactive Services, "and it is evident people have begun to recognize all the advantages of high speed access to the Internet."

According to Krstajic, Rogers continues to invest in expanding and strengthening its network to increase the performance of the service and exapand its availability.

Rogers Cable is a wholly owned subsidiary of Rogers Communications. Its hybrid fibre-coaxial network is the most advanced in North America, delivering high quality entertainment, information and communication services to approximately 2.2 million customers in Ontario and British Columbia.

The Rogers' network is more than 92 percent two-way ready and well suited for delivering interactive products and services that require significant bandwidth, such as Rogers@Home. As Canada's largest cable operator, the company also owns and operates over 200 Rogers Video stores.

Rogers New Media has emerged as a major provider of Canadian Internet content. Apart from Rogers@Home, its products also include Quicken.ca personal finance site and the Electric Library Canada subscription-based information service.
