Bothell, Wash.-based Microvision Inc. Wednesday began shipping its Nomad Personal Display System to customers.
The Nomad is a high-resolution display system, worn on the head, that presents images and information to the user in a see-through or "head-up" mode, enabling hands-free access to information like diagrams, instrumentation, maintenance records, moving maps and interactive training manuals. A number of customers and partners have already announced some of the ways they will utilize Nomad. Stryker Leibinger plans to couple it with a surgical workstation, while the European Agency for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL) plans to evaluate it for tools to improve visualization for air traffic controllers.
