  • Here's some info that may be of interest: "Among the six hospitals testing the research following the trials in Melbourne are the Dana-Farber Hospital in Boston, the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre in New York and the Royal Free Hospital in London." http://www.premier.vic.gov.au/newsroom/news_item.asp?id=257 "The six pre-eminent cancer hospitals participating in the research are: Boston's Dana-Farber Hospital, New York's Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre, Houston's M.D. Anderson Hospital, the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, London's Royal Free Hospital and the University Hospital in Basel." http://health.iafrica.com/healthnews/247742.htm

  • Regarding your comment "Will there be more info about the prostate cancer research related to this? or is this the final answer?", keep in mind that no official answer to your question has yet been posted. I was uncertain how to proceed, since you indicated that you wanted to locate an open trial of the new Australian cancer treatment, and I was not able to find such a trial. If you would like me to post the information that I've found as the answer to your question, I will be glad to do so. If, in relation to this new treatment, there is a specific kind of cancer that you'd like me to research, please let me know.

  • Could this be the new Australian cancer treatment that you're looking for? "A new cancer treatment pioneered in Australia is to be trialled by six top hospitals in Europe and the United States after being hailed a major breakthrough by a Washington conference. The therapy has already shown outstanding results in tests on prostate cancer and leukaemia sufferers, it has minimal side effects and it could be available within two years, its developers said Tuesday. It fights cancer and, potentially, HIV/AIDS by boosting the body's immune system to make it produce more of the vital T-cells that produce thymus, the gland which shrinks naturally after puberty. ...Four hospitals in the United States, one in Britain and one in Switzerland have agreed to test it on selected groups of cancer patients in the next year." Agence France-Presse - June 24, 2003 http://www.aegis.com/news/afp/2003/AF030694.html If this is the treatment you heard about, I'll be glad to gather more information about it.

  • If you can not find an open trial (for prostate) then please don't post the answer. I would ike to find a place that has an open trial so i can help a friend who is truely in need for this. Thanks again Maoz

  • It appears that the studies currently being conducted are centering on HIV/AIDS patients. I have not found any information about open trials. The Australian biotechnology firm Norwood Abbey Ltd has partnered with Monash University in this project. Here you'll find contact information that may be helpful: http://www.abc.net.au/ra/innovations/stories/s925411.htm http://www.norwoodabbey.com/indexcontact.htm Additional articles about the treatment: http://www.healthy.net/asp/templates/news.asp?Id=7164 http://www.aegis.com/news/bw/2003/BW030602.html http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/030618/185485_1.html http://www.journ-aids.org/reports/24062003f.htm In addition to this promising new treatment, there have been many other studies involving the manipulation of Gonadotropin Releasing Hormone (GnRH) in order to boost the production of T-cells. If general information about studies of this sort would be suitable as an answer to your question, I can gather more material. Unfortunately, I doubt that I will be able to help enroll your friend in a drug trial. Your friend's oncologist is his best hope in that area.

  • Thanks very much for your help. Will there be more info about the prostate cancer research related to this? or is this the final answer?
