Domain name supplier Melbourne IT subsidiary Internet Names WorldWide (INWW) has secured the renewal of its accreditation agreement as a registrar of domain names following a compliance review.

INWW announced that the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) had granted the division permission to continue to register .com, .net and .org domain names globally as an accredited ICANN registrar for a further five years.

With a stricter renewal process in place, existing ICANN approved registrars were subject to a detailed compliance review in order to maintain ICANN accreditation status, Melbourne IT said in a statement.

The renewal of the agreement would give Melbourne IT the opportunity to continue to expand its global registrar business and solidify its relationships with existing customers, the company said.

"Melbourne IT prides itself on the integrity and security of its domain name registration systems and processes," said INWW general manager Clive Flory. "Our comprehensive reseller compliance model and program ensures that our resellers maintain the same commitment to service and high quality systems as that set down by the company," he said.

Last year, Melbourne IT became the first accredited registrar by ICANN to go into operation with .com, .net and .org registrations outside the US.
