Seattle.internet.com has learned that the Seattle Network is going to be holding a VC/Startup Speed Dating game as part of their first networking event for 2001.
The event, which will be taking place on Tuesday, January 16th at the Seattle Aquarium, will try to hook up startups with funding.
According to Seattle Network Co-Founder Kristine Asin, there will be 8-10 VCs and 8-10 startups. On the morning of the event, the Seattle Network's Web site (www.seattlenetwork.com) will feature a list of all of those participating in the "dating game".

Seattle.internet.com caught up with Asin for a brief Q&A, to bring us up-to-date on this interesting event.
seattle.internet.com: How did you guys come up with the idea?
Kristine Asin: We are always looking for new ways to entertain and educate our members. We got the idea from the Jewish Speed Dating in NY. What a great way to introduce two groups of people (VCs and startups) in a casual, non-threatening place. Meetings with VCs can be nerve racking, so this is a way to see them in a different light.

seattle.internet.com: What is the format going to be...how can companies prepare themselves to be at their best?
Kristine Asin: There will be a closed session for the one on ones between 6:30 and 7:30, then we open it up to everyone for Q&A. The best way to prepare is to polish your five minute elevator pitch. You get one shot with each VC and have five minutes to dazzle them. After the session, the regular networking will take place and all of the other companies that didn't get a chance to participate in the game will still have a chance to meet and greet the VCs.
Asin also provided us with a hint of what is in store for February. Looks like its an event you won't want to pass on either. According to Asin, on Wednesday, February 21st the Seattle Network is heading up to Snoqualmie Pass for a Pink Slip Party.
"We'll have several local recruiters and companies there ready to talk to those that have recently been dot commed and those simply looking for a better gig," says Asin.
