Can I keep a kitten/cat only in my room?

  • It will have everything necessary: litter box, food, water, toys, etc.

    My step-mom is allergic... :(

  • For a short term it would be ok, but not a long term situation.

  • I have a kitten and a cat in my room and there fine just make sure you feed and Clean there litter box everyday, I suggest getting a littler locker, it reduces the smell in your room, also the air wick ultra the one that sprays every so many minuets helps also (I also have a fish in my room and getting a ferret). But there is a advantage or disadvantage depends on the way you look at it. They might end up being afraid of going out of your room when he or she gets older, but other then that your fine.

  • i wouldnt recommend it. they need new places to roam and your room big or small isnt big enough for a cat to live. Soon it will be waiting by your door and dash out right when you open it because its bored.

  • I don't see why not. As long as you spend plenty of time with the kitten, it should not be a problem. Consider adopting two kittens, that way they always have someone to play with.

  • It's better than getting rid of the cat...

But if you're looking into acquiring a cat knowing it will be in this situation, I wouldn't recommend it. Cats need stimulation, and one bedroom is going to get boring pretty quick.

Also, dander can go through the ventilation system.

I recommend trying to find a low dander cat.

  • No, it needs room to move around and cant live out of one room even if it has everything it needs
