Knowledge is defined by Lock as: â ˜knowledge is the perception of agreements and disagreements of two ideasâ ™.
Imagine two people who have their own ideas about something that might or might not be in agreement. Now, for the sake of simplicity, imagine as if the both people are living on their own separate islands, each, differently or similarly, in order by their different or similar ideas.
The chaos then I think would be in the middle, in the region between two islands, where so far has known what lies, until the time their ideas merged; so far none of them knows as what nature would the relation between their two ideas, i.e. would they be in agreement, or would there be a clash.

I certainly do not disagree with the definition of knowledge as quoted by Lock. I do feel the word knowledge goes way deeper than that. The fact you are using this clever example of two different minds (possibly) in two separate places, only proves the problem in society today. People are too prideful to compromise in their decisions. Even worse, they are too prideful to admit they could be wrong and choose the better decision. That is why we have too many chiefs and not enough indians, as I believe it goes. This country is in upheaval due to this issue, and I am glad you brought it up. As for knowledge originating from chaos, unfortunately that is what it seems to take to learn. It shouldn't be that way, but let's face it. Someone has to mess up to teach others not to make the same mistake. It is too bad we can't stop this cycle completely, but I find it hard to believe, we can't at least modify it. Knowledge is sought to dispel confusion and gain insight into the mechanisations of constructs of understanding and truth. Chaos does not create or enhance the type of knowledge for extracting happiness and love or settling disputes.
Rather chaos teaches defence, compromise and rehabilitation of thinking post psychologically traumatic incidents. True deep meaningful knowledge is gained curiosity, a search for a greater meaning of an infinite world.
Not all knowledge.Most of them orginated from facts or reality.
I would rather say that knowledge comes from the conflict between a negative pole and another positive one...this could create a sparkle of a new idea.
by putting this ideas in action we will have what is so called "experience" which is also full of rights and wrongs (trial and error).
by time this experience will result in a certain mindset with a precise point of view.

2islands.. each has their own knowledge.. what lies in between is calm waters.. when the knowledge spills over the island, instead of clashing, they will merge to form super-knowledge.. to allow each ohters knowledge to grow.. to realise what the other has thought of, how the other has lived, how the other has dealt with a problem

what i know i know. what you know you know. until we know each other, our knowledge will stay narrow minded. i need your knowledge to open my mind to a new way of thinking. likewise you need my knowledge to provide you with a new way of thinking. there is no chaos. that is a state of disorder which we choose to create.
