Do you think it's just utterly mean to threaten your boyfriend with break-up everytime you have a major fight or disagreement? Even though you won't do it... just scare them a little.

Guys oppinion. No.
Why: Because if you use it enough times, it becomes a completely empty threat, My girlfriend has said it so many times in literally the most ridiculous circumstances, almost non-arguments, and it goes straight over my head - As will it his.
Say something you know will really get his attention, think it through. Too easy to simply say "you'll break up"
If you use it too often chances are he'll get sick of it and call an end to the relationship anyway.
I certainly wouldnt use it as a threat..

If you are considering resorting to threats in order to get him to shape up then it's never a good thing, try to talk about the issues calmly and ask him why these things are going on, you shouldn't threaten things you done mean cos he may turn around and leave you! Communication is the key to a successful relationship so talk to him
Never threaten to dump somebody unless you are really prepared to do it. Yes the shock of it may bump them into action but it could also back fire. You may offer the ultimatum and he takes you up on it. What then?

I think that is mean and so childish, My friend still does it at the age of 25 to her boyfriend and they have a kid. Once u see someone else do it, u then know it is just not right.
don't use it everytime..it may damage ur relationship permanently...use it for major fights, when u know you are right and dat d guy is not listening to you..
Depends on ur boyfriend. some might say ok go ahead break up with me and then it'll be hard for u to fix the whole thing and others may try to shape up right away.u know ur boyfriend best :)
