You first have to know yourself, and if you don't, then you really can't lead someone to self knowledge. Even those with some self-knowledge can only point the way, since it's only those souls who actually know their Self as God can take a person to Self Knowledge. You cannot sit someone down and say (Blah,blah,blah.) and give them self knowledge.
Becoming self aware, and knowing that you are self aware, having that knowledge of self is not something someone else can just tell you.
"Hey, Joe, you are a functioning, moral creature with higher thought and some sort of purpose."
"Gee, thank you Frank, I didn't know that."
"You going to eat that, Joe?"
It doesn't work like that. You might, at best, be able to guide them into the proper mindset to learn it, as a karate instructor can teach his students the moves...
But that's it.
