got a 97 with 280k...regular maintenance (oil changes, radiator flushes, transmission checks, ect.) I did have the transmission rebuilt, just to be on the safe side and I wanted to beef it up for towing
A buddy of mine has a 99 with 108k and has had 0 problems. Only changed fluids and brakes as needed
With maintenance these trucks will last forever

American engines lasts, but the maintenance is a pain. I've seen those first F-150 still running the streets with over 400k miles. Maintain your car and the engine and you won't regret it, believe me.
