I've been playing around with Linux (Ubuntu/Kubuntu) for the last 2 weeks, & until I get Firefox 1.5 to work, I have to use Konqueror.
2 issues I noticed by now:
When I click on "Quick Links" no drop-down appears, but the whole page reloads & the menu bar changes to show some stuff from the drop-down. What I'm missing, though, is the "Today's Posts" choice.
I also noticed that the smilies don't work at all, neither when I click on those on the right side nor when I click [More] does anything happen.
Konqueror only tells me that there are encoding errors:

This is just for the Post New Thread page, there are more complaints by Konqueror about normal thread pages.

Yep, Ubuntu is quite nice. I settled for Kubuntu because I prefer the KDE desktop.
The major problem I see is customisation. Initial setup is easy breezy, but installing non-repository applications can be a pain in the arse. Automatix, which is supposed to make things easier, destroyed my system more than once. Now, in most cases, I just wait till the stuff is in the repositories.
BTW, since your system is Chinese: Do you use SCIM? I couldn't get it to work yet (on Ubuntu Hoary it worked fine). Now I installed UIM, but that also seems to have issues. :(
After the forum got updates that function is gone. ;-)
Not for me, if I click on "Quick Links" the first option in the drop down menu is "Today's Posts" (in FF, that is). If you use FF you should be able to see that, too.
Konqueror is crap, I suggest you get Firefox working
I wouldn't say crap. Both have their advantages. But FF has more & I'm used to it. Since I didn't want to miss my extensions any longer I settled for FF 1.0.7 for now (until 1.5 becomes available in the repositories). It's slower & not as stable, but I still prefer it to Konqueror.
I have also experienced the Konqueror issues. In fact, it's even worse with Mozilla on Linux, while it works fine in Mozilla on Windows, which leads me to believe that this is a Linux compatibility problem.
Actually, with Firefox 1.0.7 both drop-down & smilies work fine for me. There are other issues, but not Jref-related.
I use Konqueror merely as a file manager for now. Works well in that regard (although I miss my old Xplorer2 for Windows). 谢谢I But that linked only to the repository stuff which is a bit obsolete (& can be easily installed via Adept, Synaptic et al.). Won't work on KDE, though. But I found a better solution: I use XFCE now beside KDE. Even the obsolete Scim works fine under XFCE, only the options are not available. :okashii:
The look & feel of XFCE are not quite as I like it, but it's OK (actually some stuff works better than under KDE, eg. Firefox).

nah its just hiding up in the 'quick links' drop down between 'search' and 'log out'
I have also experienced the Konqueror issues. In fact, it's even worse with Mozilla on Linux, while it works fine in Mozilla on Windows, which leads me to believe that this is a Linux compatibility problem.
I don't think there is any solution except rewrite the whole vB script or modify Linux to solve the compatibility problem.
If you ever see another vB forum that does not have this problem, please let me know. It might give us some clues on what the problem is.
