Least Painful Area for a New Tattoo?

Published by: anonym 2009-01-07

  • I am a 38 year old woman, and I am getting my first tattoo...where is the least painful place to put a new tattoo (a small/medium one)? I was thinking the upper arm area, but not sure. It is of a cartoon Boston Terrier since I owned 3 of them in the past.

  • As it relates to tattoos, size really doesn't matter.

I am about 60% tattooed and there is really not much differance as to the initial pain. The majority of the discomfort comes afterwards, during healing. This is where you really notice the differance. The ribs hurt, the meaty part of the shoulder near the neck hurts. The least painful for me was my forarms and the thighs.

Remember where you clothes are tight on you, it will rub more on the new skin and irritated area. The waistline where the pants ride, is a killer afterwords. You would be suprised how much your pants and underware rubs and pinches that area.

Is it painful? Do tattoos fade on hands and feet? Can I Your new tattoo should not be soaked or saturated in any type of water for a period of 5-7 days.

A bandage will be applied to your tattoo, which should be left on at least your hands off your new tattoo and do not pick the area; some skin will flake

For what you are describing, the best place would probably be the back of the shoulder blade, around the area where your bra strap will be. I bet wearing a bra after will be uncomfortable, but that is one of the easiest areas to get a tattoo.

  • actually you wouldn't think of this, but the back of your neck is one of the least painful spots to get a tattoo. try pinching the skin on the top of your hand or foot (one of the most sensitive areas) and then pinch the skin on the back of your neck. you barely feel it.

as a rule of thumb, the least painful spots to get tattooed are the spots that are most exposed on a lizard. its weird, but think about it. their least exposed parts are their belly and ribs (which KILL to get tattooed on, because they're sooo sensitive.)

upper arms and upper or lower back are the least painful because of their thicker skin and less sensitivity.

  • the pain for areas only differs slightly although I've heard the upper arm is one of the least painful

i have 3 tattoos heres the order of pain for me my side on my ribs being the most painful then the side of my neck being the 2nd most then the back of my ankle being the least painful

its not that sore honestly more of an uncomfortable feeling good luck i hope you enjoy your tattoo

  • shoulder blade

  • I know some people will complain about this, saying part of getting a tattoo is the pain blah blah blah, but if you really are worried about the pain, I would recommend using numbing cream.
I got my first tattoo a couple of weeks ago on my hip and I used numbing cream. It was amazing! I couldn't feel a thing.
It's cheap and you can get it over the counter at Boots.
    Hope this helped :)
