Recording Live Gig in Stereo - The Digital Video Information Network:: 14 posts - 9 authors - Last post: Sep 15Hi there -- I need to shoot a (small) jazz ensemble live on stage. Since the band is not miced up and there is no mixing board I could use, http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/all-things-audio/129810-recording-live-gig-stereo.htmlHOME | These were taken with my Garden Variety canon last week.

Live shows are pretty hard to shoot. Good job. What did you shoot at?
Here are some other ones. Keep in mind all of them were taken during live preformances.

Blog Standard Stuff » John Butler Trio - Live Gig Review:: Oct 21, 2005 In summary, I would have to say that this was the best live gig I’ve seen, and it was amazing the sound that these three guys could produce. http://lloydi.com/blog/2005/10/21/john-butler-trio-live-gig-review/HOME |

The photos work for what it is. Why not see the "imperfections" as not limiting but accentuating the quality of the shot. I see not "band shots" but photographs of the MOOD of the performance.
I really like the first one. It's quite mysterious and eery. Although the light 'interferes' with the image you can still clearly see what it is thanks to the silhouette of the microphone and the subject holding his guitar.
If this shot wasn't 'staged' then you really caught him at a good moment(brushing his hair back with one hand and carrying the guitar in the other). If he had just been standing still with his arms by his side i don't think the image would have been so effective.
I like the second one as well but i'm not so keen on the last one.
