| | I am using Windows ME as my operating system. I was trying to create a
new Database. I accidentally installed the Database in my Documents
which transferred about 1200 files in to my Documents. I was trying to
find a method of deleting the files quickly without doing them one at
a time. I deleted the files that I wanted to get rid of. I was trying
to save 5 files that I wanted. I transferred the 5 files from My
Documents by right clicking on the My Documents folder on the
desktop, clicking on open, right clicking on the 5 files that were in
there, and then sending them to Desktop (Create Shortcut).I got rid of
the files that I did not want by doing a mass delete. The 5 files that
I did want appeared on the desktop as Shortcuts but the problem is
when I tried to reinstall them to My Documents they would not install
the way they came out. When the file goes to My Documents and I try to
open it the Computer says that it is a Missing Shortcut and then I get
a Problem With Shortcut message that says it has been changed or moved
so it no longer works properly. Then it asks me do I want to fix this
shortcut to point to this target or do I want to delete it. I click on
fix it and nothing happens. I am still unable to open it.I am sent to
an empty folder that's titled CPQS. Please help me to restore my
files. The Lost Files of Sherlock Holmes Hints from UHS - Not your :: Universal Hint System hints for The Lost Files of Sherlock Holmes. The UHS shows you just the hints you need, unlike a traditional walkthrough. http://www.uhs-hints.com/uhsweb/holmes.phpHOME |
For future note: "sending them to Desktop (Create Shortcut)." did
exactly that, create shortcut. It didn't copy or move your files to
the desktop. Above information is correct. If you haven't emptied your
recycle bin, you have a chance to restore from there. If you have, you
will need an undelete utility, maybe even something like Lost and
Found (discontinued)

its amazing how many 'so-called' deleted files are still on the hard
drive. Some of my friends have computers that are used to write
confidential letters so I was able to use a freeware program to show
them that the files that they think are deleted from the recycle bin
are still sitting on their computer. Its very easy to recover these
'deleted' files.
