I have no excuse for the idiotic move I made trying to make XBMC a dashboard. I followed the rules, installed XBMC into my Apps folder, but neglected to doublecheck everything I was doing [I had a friend setup my dashboards and such, so I wasn't completely familiar with the files I was working with], so when I renamed a few files [evodashbackup.xbe for instance] and moved the .xbe and .cfg files over, I apparently named them incorrectly [evodash instead of evoxdash.*] and after I booted, I had that sinking feeling in my stomach, as I noticed the mistake a few seconds too late and had a half green screen saying essentially "no worky".

Now I cannot get the xbox to boot into any dashboard or anything because the file I presume the bios is looking for is not there anymore, as I stupidly named it wrong. And I was trying to be responsible and save a backup of the original file too ... just wasn't careful enough.

Essentially, I think if I could find a way to use a boot cd to get some sort of FTP system working, I can just rename the files via FTP and the XBMC will be my dashboard, but I am afraid it may not be so simple.

Still showing off a bit of my modding n00bness, but where could I get the slayer's disc? I've googled it a bit, and it sounds like a really useful disc to have on hand. You have any ideas where I should look to download the files I would need?

No, its that simple. You just need a boot cd with an ftp enabled dash. If you dont want to make one, you can use the slayers disc.
Nevermind, I think I found the torrent I need. I have so many dashboards installed, some day I think I just want to back everything up, install the newest XBMC and maybe a couple other applications I really need.
BTW, I just formatted a PC I had Vista on to install XP again and then dual-boot, since I couldn't get SMB to work. Found out recently, the newest XBMC supports it now. Doh!
