I, like a lot of others, use my home computer to serve xbmc via ftp. It would be very cool if this could be offered as an option. I really liked seeing my album art while browsing in older builds.
WTF are you using FTP to share stuff. Use a streaming protocol, such as UPnP, XBMSP or even SMB.

The Freebox is an ADSL Modem/multimedia box/PVR equipped with a 40GB hard drive that the French internet service provider named Free provides to its ADSL subscribers.
You can access the Hard Disk with FTP (and usb external Hdd too), i use this hd with Xbmc and an XBMSP share with my Pc Hdd's too, but since there is no thumbs look on FTP, i can't have thumbs with the content of the Hard Drive(s) of my Freebox..
It would be a good feature to add look for thumbs to FTP for people having hardware like this Freebox :nod:.

Hey Guys, there is a small but a big Problem for me with my xbmc.
I like to share my files over a server with 2 plugged harddisks, which you can achieve with a FTP.
So a few weeks ago there where no Problems to get the nice thumbnails :), but nowadays I don't know why, I can't see any thumbnails.

Is it a problem of compatibility who is the reason why thumbs on Ftp was removed ? (imdb still work please don't remove this too :rofl:)
Since this is a new evolution of providers (make triple play offers (Internet + Telephone Voip + Television + mediacenter)with hardware like Freebox, but Hdd accessible by Ftp only, not ethernet, remove the Ftp isn't so good for users like me (and maybe you in the futur provider you'll choose who will give you a box like me for "free" :D )
So, this is a good reason for asking : Is it possible to let the Ftp thumbs like it was before according to the new actual offers/hardware made by the providers)

I already serve my shares via ftp so why would i want to run another service just for XBMC that provides no extra benefit?
