can you add -masu, -masen, -mashita and masendeshita to all forms of verbs?
yomu -> yomi -> yomimasen?
taberu -> tabe -> tabemasen?

どうもありがとうございます
As far as I know all verbs have a stem, and that means that you can add masu. Even though im a mere beginner, I think im right here. home.att.net/~millerrl/jpn105-07-Grammar-7-12-05.ppt:: For –ru dropping verbs, add –rareru (plain present) or –raremasu (polite present) enai/-emasen for u-dropping verbs -rarenai/-raremasen for ru-dropping verbs http://home.att.net/~millerrl/jpn105-07-Grammar-7-12-05.pptHOME | home.att.net/~millerrl/jpn105-04-Grammar-1-12-07.ppt:: form is created by adding –anakute mo ii to the stem of u-dropping verbs, nakute mo ii to the stem of ru-dropping verbs or nakute mo ii to the –ku form of http://home.att.net/~millerrl/jpn105-04-Grammar-1-12-07.pptHOME |
どうもありがとうございます would be a bit much, im only 17 yet, and hold no social status lol
I find ŠA‚Ü‚· in the dictionary
Thats a fairly obscure word you're using for practice there!
Very obscure, but yes, it would conjugate as ŠA‚Ü‚µ‚Ü‚· if you were to use it. Verbs like Šo‚Ü‚·->Šo‚Ü‚µ‚Ü‚· are the same.
It's something I had never thought about, but as far as I know, any verb can get masu attached to it.
Masu is one of ways of conjugating japanese verbs, just like present continuous in english.
what type of verb would that be, irregular?
so i could say
kuramasu
or
kuramashimasu
hmm...
This type of verb form is ŒhŒê or Honorary, use it when talking to elders / superiors.
It's just an expression of gratitude and politeness. In this case age doesn't really mean respect. More of level of knowledge I would think.
I meant it to be a thank you to everyone on this forum.
You are all so nice and helpful!
:p
