    A company that manufactures wheelchairs has fixed costs of 400,000$. The average cost per wheelchair,C,for the company to manufacture,x,wheelchairs per month is modeled by the formula

    C= 200x +400,000
    -----------------------
    x

    (thats a fraction var by the way)
    How many wheelchairs can be produced at an avergage cost of $220 per chair
    show how you are getting answer

  • this problem is easy as long as you know where to plug in the variables.
    So, i assume by the phrase average cost per chair is 220$ that this will be plugged into C and that i'm solving for x. so, 220=200x+400,000.
    Now, i'm going to subtract 400,000 by both sides. -400,000+220=200x.
    -399780=200x. now. divide by 200 on both sides (or multiply by 1/200).
    -399780/200=x. now we just simplify, so x=-1998.9 or -19989/10

  • 400,000 = 220x

    solve for x

    round down to nearest whole number
