Anyone having trouble with McAfee scanning email in Outlook or Outlook Express and version 2.5. When ever I try and get email I have to shut outpost off to retrieve it. If left on it freezes Outlook and the only way to shut it down is to reboot or kill it in task manager. Shut Outpost off and email works perfect.

I think the problem is with mcvsescn.exe and Outpost. My OP is XP Pro. running SP2, Pentium 4 CPU, 2.66 GHz, with 1.00 of Ram. Thanks

I suggest you turn off email scanning. It provides little benefit since the active AV shield will protect you anyway. Often, email scanning brings some systems to a crawl and really provides very little benefit. It sounds good though.
Glad to hear it. I can't tell you how many posts I've read about problems with McAfee email scanning. It does work for some people but for others it's a pain. After a particular trying experience with some of their products a few years ago, none of them will ever be on my PC.
And yes, the AV shield will protect you just as good without scanning the mail.

Have you checked your blocked logs to see what they are showing?
Have your tried deleting OutLook from your Partially Allowed Applications section, then while in Rules Wizard restart OutLook and allow OutPost to create new Prest rules for OutLook. You may also have to allow access for the Mcafee e-mail scan.
Also check to see if McAfee needs a proxy to scan E-mail.
Note: For testing only have you tried getting your E-mail while in AllowMost Mode. Do not run in AllowMost mode, If you can get e-mail while in Allowmost mode with out freezing or locking up your computer then your blocked logs should tell you what needs to be added to your rules. Running your computer in Allow Most Mode will allow any program to access the internet without Rules this is not recommended and for testing purposes only.

Turned off email scanning and Outlook works. In almost mode it doesn't. Thanks Manny, I'll run with it off and see how I get along. With AV shield running I should be ok.
Yes, I did delete all of McAffe and Outlook from my partially allowed aplications and started over with them. Also I checked to see if it was in my blocked logs and it wasn't. I will reinstall it to see if it works in almost mode later this afternoon. Thanks GM
