The way Montella has been playing, he should be called to the National all the time. I hope Lippi realizes that he could be a good part in the National Team set-up. The National Team needs an explosive player like him at the moment. Lippi better have him in the squad for the friendly vs. Russia on Feb. 9th. What does everyone think?
what about pippo inzaghi, he was in great form last year but couldnt make it to euros because of an injury i think. he never seems to be called up to international competitions. i havent seen him playing for italy in ages.

Along the same lines I voted for the last option in this poll. There's over a yr before the next world cup.
I say Gilardino and Toni are the future, give them a full calendar year of international play to further their development. I think they both have attributes that Montella can't bring. Montella's a nice forward on a hot streak but not the long term guy. It's not an anti-roma stance, since I would play Toni up top with Cassano and Totti behind him....

vieri is doing well right now, better than cassano, in fact. Montella is just in good form in the meantime, remember when italy tried him in the NT...WHAT AN EMBARASSMENT THAT WAS!

I dunno Vieri has been explosive himself too. HEs been gettin equalizer goals for inter lately. Hes been doing all the small things and that is helping his reputation right now.
There's no doubt.
He is playing out-of-this-world! He's scoring goals like they are going out of style.
He may be over 30 but age should just be a number when you're playing thsi well.
Questions may arise in LT over his production but on current form he's on FYAH!

Definitely, why wouldn't you put him on the NT. He is tied for the goal scoring in Serie A (without scoring on pks) I really don't see why can't they start him in a meaning less game with russia and see what he does. There are a number of young itaian fowards. like toni, cassano, De Rossi, and Gilardino.
I don't see why can't include Montella in there.
