hey everyone,
I am moving to a new webhost, and need help. I have database backup files. Do I just copy /paste directory tree from www down by ftp to the new server, then install the old db using the same name? would that work, once the DNS transfers? Or is there more work. Could someone step-by-step me through host change?
The database needs to be backed and restored in addition to the vB files themselves. Instructions for moving servers are in the online manual here:

Please make a bid per site We are ready to help in this project and offer all necessary support in the http://www.scriptlance.com/projects/1229981543.shtmlHOME | How To Move AN SQL Database:: How To Move AN SQL Database From One Server To Another. This will be a great help is you have anything large, like a forum and/or CMS using SQL if you need to move http://www.rebelrosenetworks.com/how_to_move_a_sql_database.htmlHOME |
Note: The only reliable method of backing up and restoring a database is with shell access via telnet or ssh. Please see the instructions here:
Backup:
http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/maintenance_ssh_backup IT Forums: Migrate Windows 2003 Server Install:: need to make sure hardware settings or IPs arent migrated as new servers will and looked and I have the document I typed up up to move to their new server. http://mcpmag.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?tid=941&pn=1HOME |
Restore:
http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/maintenance_ssh_restore
This is because backing up with a PHP script like that in the Admin CP or phpMyAdmin can result inPHP timeouts errors and an incomplete backup file.
