Whats the deal with OP i just put OP on the MS ICS host...
it works cool ...but now my MS ICS client can't get "https" to log into anything like e-mail and such... please if anyone knows dont give any lame single answers ....
both machines are 98se
both machines are running free version of OP
the MS ICS host -OP policy is set to "block most" in order for the MS ICS client to even load a web page but wont allow a secure server
the MS ICS Host runs like dhcp
and everything worked well
until
putting OP on the MS ICS host
help!
thanks.....
all https on the client
Hi mountaindew,
ICS isn't an issue here as you're on Win98.
Is the trouble with all https sites or just a couple?
If you would like to PM me a couple urls, I'll check them out for you. It could be any active content, cookies, or Referrers. Either of those have caused problems for me with a couple https sites for a few insurance companies I log into. Again thanks but...
everything works except getting into "https" a secure server
other wise i can share files , surf the net on both machines....
its only problem is the client wont go into "HTTPS" site.
so again if anyone has any help ??
remember its only a secure server problem on the client
when the host is running the firewall
other wise the client can browse sites when the host is running the firewall.
anyone got any ideas??
yeah the icmp traffic, destination unreachable , was blocking me from getting the https to work on my client so i checked the destination unreachable on the host firewall and it allows https on the client now....
options/system/icmp/settings/destination unreachable/out
my icmp was set to default i just added a check to the destination unreachable- out
so MS ICS 98se with the free version of Outpost firewall does allow sharing and allow the lan to operate. with the firewall placed on both host and clients.
Hi MountainDew,
After you experience these problems, you MUST look in the following logs on your CLIENT and especially your SERVER:
Blocked
Attack Detection
Find anything in one of those two logs that may be related to your HTTPS (TCP 443) issue. If it is being blocked, we need to know if it is the client or the server. Although I suspect it is your server. Take a look and let us know. :)
MountainDew, are you using a router? Are you on hi speed or dialup?
Hi Mountaindew,
Great job!!!
I finally got the screenshots I told you about in our PM but you went and solved it yourself. You da man:):)
Chris
Hello MountainDew. You need the Pro version for a lan. ICS is supported in Win98, but for a lan to work you need to use Outpost Pro and put the clients IP in the Outpost trusted zone.
Hi MountainDew,
Thanks for sticking with it until the problem was solved. I am sure that this thread may help other users. It would seem that neither Outpost PRO or the Trusted IP list is required to get ICS to work. That seems apparent since you are currently running the FREE version of Outpost on both your ICS HOST and your CLIENT and have successfully got ICS operating.
Good job. :)
haven't found any blocked 443 or https on the logs
i seen a blocked "icmp traffic" from my client - from the host "blocked logs"
Destination Unreachable
anyways its fixed for now.....
ohh no it works but it wont allow it to connect to a secure server
it wont let me to sign in on https on the clients...the host works cool
its the clients getting into a secure server is what i'm having a prob with
Welcome MountainDew,
I don't run ICS, but I have seen many threads saying Outpost v1.0 is incompatible with ICS. Most use a proxy (I believe AnalogX Proxy) to bypass this until Outpost v2.0 in released and compatible.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I think this may be the problem. I use a router so I don't have to deal with this.
Good luck,
0.
Fixed???
The ICMP log entries or the HTTPS problem?
If you stopped the ICMP blocked problem, what change did you make to ICMP settings in Outpost? This info may benefit another user.
Can you now use HTTPS on your client?
