....not really but I was on the train this morning with my ipod and I couldn't help but thinking about a few concerts I went to recently.

It made me think about asking....what's would be your perfect show? If you were Bill Gates type rich and could pay anything that the performer(s) wanted, what would you choose?

There are no rules except you can't bring anyone back from the dead.

Mine: The Rolling Stones playing a small room and the set list is Exile on Main Street from beginning to end. No big fookin stage, no pyrotechnics, no 15 backup singers, just stripped down blues-based rock and roll.

Ask me in another week and I'll change my mind.

  • So I'm a liar...

The Kinks, original line up with Pete Quaife on bass and Mick Avory on drums playing the entirety of Something Else, then an intermission, then playing the entirety of VGPS, another intermission, then Quaife hands the bass to John Dalton and the entirety of Arthur is played. There we go.
Isn't Dave Davies out of commission now? I thought he had serious health problems.

  • Chaz and Dave all the way.

  • I don't respond well to rules so I'm having Tim and Jeff Buckley, opening with "Song To The Siren" and finishing with "Grace". They can sing whatever the hell they like in between.

Ask me in another week and I'll change my mind.

That is a great start for sure. That's such a hard question. My first response was "The Beatles", but I'm not sure what I would have them play.

  • Elvis Costello & The Attractions. They do Get Happy from start to finish in a private concert. Ask me in 5 minutes and I'll give you a different answer. :)
I wonder if Warren Buffet has ever thought about doing this with .00001% of his fortune.

  • I'd have Vermont's Phinest recreate 12.31.99/01.01.00

No Mike's = no replay for me. :D

Nice work, Mike. You've managed to break the only rule in the first reply.

  • Pink Floyd. Hands down for me. I would love to see them play the entire Animals album, some tracks from Dark Side, and some other older tracks like Careful with that Axe Eugene, Embryos, etc (basically the BBC Rhapsodey in Pink album).

  • Pearl Jam. Amped up in a small room. Just a few of my best friends. They play mostly Vitaology, Yield and the new album.

Yeah, he had a stroke but he's recovering.. he can walk and play guitar again.

  • I'd like to see The Roots with Medeski, Martin & Wood. I'd put 'em all on stage together for about 3 hours and just get blown away by what Billy Martin and ?uestlove could do together. I'm not sure how Black Thought would handle not being the center of attention, but he can smoke blunts with me and a bunch of supermodels if he can't deal.

  • No Mike's = no replay for me. :D
good thing i was picking my dream show ;)

Ahh yes, but you didn't say I couldn't go back in time. :p

Having re-read the post, and now seeing the rule, I think perhaps I'd go with Bob Dylan. As for a setlist, I'd have to think about it some more, but some definite musts would be "Boots of Spanish Leather", "She Belongs To Me", and "Idiot Wind."

  • good thing i was picking my dream show ;)

    Good thing. ;)

  • It would be The Who - what's left of them - playing a 20 minute jam session of Naked Eye like at Leeds or Isle of Wight followed up by Who Are You going then into Love Reign O'er Me to finish it off.
