I just found out not too long ago I am pregnant, My first doctors appointment is today. This would be my first baby.
Any suggestion or reccomendations on questions to ask the doctor? Or what to do at my first appointment, I am between 6-7 weeks.
Congrats.. In a few months you will have more questions to ask. Just take care of your self now.
CONGRATS!!!!! They will usually ask you if you have any concerns and give you alot of info on what to expect.... It will be fun
i had to fill out some papers they done my weight height blood and a urine sample.but every doctor is different :-]
make sure you know your family history for heredity diseases that could be passed down to your baby. If the list is long like my family, I would suggest writing it down. He will give you a blood test, usually a pap test (unless you got one recently) and schedule you for an ultrasound. They will confirm that you are pregnant
Then do some blood & Urine tests.
You will then have a sit down with your Doctor to go over your game plan. What is important to you & what you'll need to do until the nest appt. They will probably give you your prenatals now.
Congratulations! Being pregnant is wonderful...enjoy it!
Yikes... fun, not so much but you have to start somewhere. I don't consider internal exams/ultrasound and a pap smear enjoyable. Once you get this first one over with it is so much easier. You have so much time to ask questions so maybe just listen to what he/she has to say. They usually give you a packet that tells you all of the do's and don'ts.
be prepared to get naked....oh i hate the fist doctor's visit. They have to feel all over you and look at your breast. It made me feel terrible. Do not let anyone (family, friends, partner) come in with you. They have to run all types of test. Then he puts his whole hand up your vagina. And that hurts like hell! I felt so weird I couldn't think of any questions to ask.
This is what my doctor did on my first appointment:
Gave me a prescription for vitamins to take after asking if I was taking any folic acid before the pregnancy.
Checked my weight, my height, took a urine sample.
Gave me a form and a list of locations to get some blood work/tests done. Mostly to confirm pregnancy, as well as check to see that I don't have HIV/Rubella/etc...
Told me what to avoid in my diet.
What is okay to do during pregnancy ie- sex.
If I have any questions or concerns.
Thats it. :) Congrats to you and best of luck!
