Well, this is what happened. I have a 1999 Ford Escort ,10,000 miles now. Until tonight, it worked perfect for me.

First, I felt like the car was slowing down, so I stepped on, and no matter how I accelerated my car, it kept on lossing power.

Even worse, I stopped at a STOP sign waiting for the traffic, and when I tried moving forward, my car stayed in the same position. then I started my car again, and it seemed like to work, however after 3 minutes, it started to lossing power again.

Praise God , I was on my way back home late tonight, so the traffic was pretty clean. I kept my speed around 20 MPH and finally got home safely. I had to restart my car everytime if I had to stop and waited for a little bit longer.

Try putting a can of heet in the gas tank. It sounds like a little water in the fuel freezing in the fuel lines or filter. If that doesn't fix it, have someone check the fuel pressure, it could be the fuel pump or pressure regulator.

Could be any number of things.

For proper combustion and power you need
* Fuel - check fuel filter, pump
* Air - check air filter and ducting
* Spark - check plugs, wires, distributor

Does it give off smoke or smell when it runs?

What you describe sounds possibly like the symptom of a plugged catalytic convertor, this can restrict the airflow through your engine and hurt the power.

And possibly it could be a symptom with a battery getting old, though it would get harder to start after it is stalling also. Old battery means weak spark reducing power. Your battery should be marked with the date it was last changed.

Sounds like low fuel pressure

sounds like the cat convertor has collapsed, this will stop gas escaping from the engine and you lose power.

the only other problem could be your clutch is on its way out unless you have an auto.

sound like a map sensor. It reads the vacuum in the engine. Did the engine run ok? was it choppy? or did it bog out? if it didnt then it might be the sensor. if you look up the location of the sensor in childen all u have to do is unplug it and the computer will go into factory default setting and the power should return, but your engine light will come on. its a simple and relatively cheap fix.
