My husband is an apprentice electrician and at the moment is working on a power plant an hour and a half from where we live. He found out today his schedule is changing to 6 days a week 14 hours a day. We have a 3 month old and I know i will hardly ever see him now. He may end up having to stay in pueblo.
We can't move down there, we have crap credit and no money to do so. but with those hours, he'd be leaving at 5am and getting home at around 11pm.
I work 40hrs a week mon-fri myself and occasionally have Army Reserves Drill.
I deploy in the near future, and I really want to spend time with him while I can, not to mention I dont really have any friends or family around, nor do I have the time to make any with a 3 month old on my hands...

The main thing you have to worry about is how your baby will be cared for while you are deployed and your husband is stuck at a distant job. This is a problem faced by almost every couple with kids when one of them has to deploy. One Air Force mom I knew told me that all the people in her unit who had children were under orders to have solid child care plans in place. These caregivers had to be ready to take the child or children on half an hour's notice, for an indefinite period.

Religious advisers, social service organizations, or even social workers at hospitals might be able to offer help. Can any of your family members come quickly and take your child to stay with them while you're away? There will be legal consent forms and medical authorizations to be completed.

That's a tough one but you have to do what you have to do. You started a family, you got jobs with erratic hours, and you have bad credit. So while this might sound mean, you really only have yourselfs to blame (this realization goes a long way when trying to deal with things).
However, a few things you can do is 1) REALLY cherish every moment you get together. 2) Write hand-written letters to each other. It's a very personal way to communicate and it's something that he can read while lying in bed at night alone (and you can do as well) 3) Try to time EVER day off you can together. Take your days off together and if possible, take a sick day off together while not really sick and do something fun.

realize that this is what your life is temporarily. meantime bond with your baby and clean the house and keep busy.
Send pictures of the baby frequently and find a way to communicate if you can (Skype, email, snail mail, send cams back and forth.I assume he is going to come home on his day off so it isn't like he is going to be gone for a year or even a month.
