I know people don't like favors...But I am actually going all out with this one...I mean you only get one day where you can get ridiculous with things. And if money were an issue...then I guess this would be ridiculous! :]

I have so many Ideas on favors. there is going to be a table with the favors on them...
http://www.kaboodle.com/hi/img/2/0/0/41/...
I want one of these in raw wood finish and I want on each little tier to be a different favor...Not a 100 of each! just where people can choose what they want kinda...I think it's cute..and I am still looking for an Idea on the candy buffett .... what can I use as an alternative to have as take away baggies or little boxes?? Any Ideas?
eh, I don't really care for the jelly idea. you probably don't think it's original but votive holders with your names and the date on it are better I think. I like the idea of having several different favors and letting people pick what they want- count on some people taking more than 1 tho! candy buffet? at the end of a wedding people are usually so stuffed they don't want any more food or sweets. don't kill yourself over spending on your wedding- put the money into a college fund for your kids instead, they'll thank you in 20 years or so
So basically, what you're saying is, "I don't care if people will use the favors, I want them because I get to splurge on my wedding day."
I'm sorry hun, but I really don't think that people are going to use little things of jelly. I see that sitting on our counter for year, and throwing it away after it gets dusty.
Really think about it. NO ONE is going to use or keep the little buckets or jelly or whatever else you come up with. Yes, they're really cute, but in reality, it's probably the biggest waist of time, money and energy. Use the buckets as the containers for the candy bar. I'll admit, I like the mini buckets for a country wedding.
Stick with the candy bar and put the extra money into something people actually care about. Maybe use it to rent a photobooth for the night. Or spring for more appetizers. you could always do something for a cause, like donate money to a charity then on the back of each name card you could write "$5 was donated to suchandsuch charity in your name" that way your favors actually do something besides sit on a counter for a year before they get thrown away.
I think they are totally wrong. THIS IS A GREAT IDEA. If you come from a smaller community where people use jelly it will get eaten. I love the galvanized buckets. They are supper cute. You should use large galvanized tubs the kind with two handles with a metal scoop. You should have like three choices of candy. and let them fill their own pails. You can decorate the pails and make sure to put a liner in them like the one in the picture.

I don't understand why people on here hate favors so much. Especially when you give something that someone can actually USE. The jelly and the candy are great ideas because people can use them.
You know what, you're not going to make everyone happy. But most would be thrilled with a useul favor. If some choose to throw it out, then so be it.
So I think you should spring for the favors. If people don't want to use them, they don't have to. But for every hater, there's more people who will love the favors.
I gave olive oil bottles for my favor and got so many compliments on them. People were thrilled to actually have something pretty that they could use.
So Ms. Kawana, if you have the money to spend, go for it. I like your idea of having a choice of favor. You are being really considerate to your guests. If they don't want to take one, they don't have to.
I think it's a lovely idea! And if you want, you can even get tiny picnic baskets and cut some little gingham squares in your wedding colors and put a biscuit or two in each to go along with the jelly, that would be really cute! Wholesale craft places carry those, we got our baskets for only 90 cents each!
I don't know why people don't like useful or edible favors, I think they are great! The useless stuff I could skip (candles, notepads, etc) but the useful stuff (candy, food, wine, shot glasses, bottle openers, pens etc) is great!
We are doing wine and cheese baskets as favors since we're having our reception at a local winery. The backets include a bottle of wine with a personalized label, various types of cheese and crackers to compliment and a few gourmet chocolates with a bunch of handblown glass grapes as a decoration. We are also having soda and snack baskets as substitues for those who don't drink or aren't of age.
Good luck and enjoy!
I love the idea of offering a choice of favors. Very fun.
Here is a boutique that has a beautiful selection of items to include in your display. They have small galvanized buckets, too.

Others to choose from, as well. Good luck!
I am fully in support of the galvanized bucket idea!!! I love it!!!
I love the jelly idea...I think that is so unique!
for the candy bar you could just do personalized suckers http://www.candyspirit.com/index.htm which I think adds a great touch.
