Im getting married next october and want to do as much stuff as i can on my own (well with help from friends and family) and i was thinking of fun centerpieces to do and i thought about doing some kind of pumpkin centerpieces. I dont want them carved but kinda stuck on ideas. Any ideas?

  • My cousin was married last Oct. She hollowed out the pumpkins and put a potted mum inside the pumpkin so that the flowers stuck out the top. She also had some silk fall leaves wired into the mums. Her wedding was orange and like a burnt red, so she used orange pumpkins and red mums. It was really cute. She just had everyone take them home with them and then she didn't have a million leftover pumpkins.

  • My cousins got pumpkins they bought the kind that are naturally white, but they had some colored ones (baby pumpkins) on the cake. For the white pumpkins they painted irradescent glitter on them and wrote messages on some such was their names married on 10-3-07 etc. Or just their names. It looked really beautiful and gave a fairy tale fantasy vibe.

Also you can cut the stem off and make a hole just big enough for a small tealite or candle to fit in the top so the flame is visible. It will look like pumpkin candles, except they will be real.

  • They have some cute ideas on this website..

  • Try a sea grass cornucopia with mini pumpkins. chrysanthemums and colorful fall leaves falling out on the table add a votive or two and you should find that to be enough. Try laytners.com for these.
October fest is another theme small beer steins filled with fall flowers and leaves and a tall candle in center for mood lighting.
Crossed ribbons in fall colors with pumpkins, candles or lights and a few bright fall leaves.
A mini sheaf of wheat with fall colored ribbons binding it together.
Or simply a few stems of wheat, fall leaves and fall colored candles hope these ideas help. Congrats
    .

  • You can paint the pumpkins.

  • There are a lot of things that you can do with Pumpkins that don't require them to be carved. I really like the idea of the white pumpkins. They have an elegant look, yet it's still "fall like." You can also get some fake fall leaves and use those to scatter around the centerpieces. I think that will give it a nice look.

Here are a few ideas that you might be able to use:

You could also do something simple with apples and berries - there is a lot you can do with them, plus it's very cost efficient:

  • My centerpieces from my wedding next month are pumpkins. We spray painted them white and then decorated them with leaves and flowers, it's very elegant. Also you can do cornucopias, I always thought that would be pretty

  • I just went to a wedding last weekend that did pumpkin centerpieces (wish I had my images uploaded) and they just had a pumpkin in the middle of the table surrounded by a couple of smaller gourds and a few flowers (in their colors). If you wanted to you could always get a large mirrored plate and set the pumpkin and everything else on that.

  • For fall weddings I love the idea of doing wreaths as centerpieces - they can be of fall theme, maybe with different colored leaves or pumpkins or sparkly fake fruit....and then having a big candle in the center of them to give off that night evening glow. Would be beautiful!

  • maybe mini pumpkins
    with drawn/stamped faces

easier than carving a bunch of pumpkins

  • how about small pumpkins set in wreathes around them done in autumn colours. no faces carved in them or drawn on them as this would be to childish looking for a wedding. just the pumpkins with the wreathes, possibly with a fall colour ribbons. i think this would be beautiful and going along with the season.

  • A couple of ideas:

    1. Fill up a tall vase with mini-pumpkins and arrange flowers on top so it looks like pumpkins are floating inside of the vase.
    2. Carve open a pumpkin and use it as a vase to hold your flowers and even a few tall candles.

  • Ohhhh...I adore this idea...I always wanted an October Pumpkin wedding, but my church did not have it open!
Martha Stewart has great ideas so check her site, but for a sheik look, carve off only the very top, hallow out, insert vase of dozen roses. Looks very elegant and fall all at same time. Easy to do yourself...have a pumpkin carving party the Thurs before. You can order roses in bulk for cheap through a local grocery store, or look online for "bulk flowers" I order flowers every year in bulk for an event that I plan and they work out to about 40Cents per stem. You could cut costs by using carnations, or sunflowers as well.
    Good Luck!

  • I'm having an october wedding next year and what I am going to do is make twisted wire "trees" that stand about 3 feet tall. The branches spread out and curl over the heads of the guests when the tree is placed on the table, so that it's easy to talk to people. I have hung ribbon, shiny beads, and fall leaves among the wires, and spread around the base. It's different, and pretty, and really cheap because the wire for each tree only costs around 5 dollars. If you would like for me to send you some pictures of my sample one, you can email me at darthpandaofdoom@yahoo.com and I'd be happy to. I can send you directions to make them as well. Hope this helps! -Renee

  • I love orange pumpkins, but think they can be kind of casual for a wedding. You want it elegant and beautiful and don't want to look too much like a barn dance or hayride.

I would use white pumpkins, and maybe some smaller orange pumpkins or unusual gourds.

I also saw a stunning use of apples at a design showroom. They used inexpensive large tall clear glass cylinders and filled each one with a different color of apple. So one table would have green apples, one dark red, one more yellow and pink. Its so simple and easy and looks really sharp.

  • My daughter carves foam pumpkins and then she adds the lights in the center. A matter of fact they are so beautiful I suggested that she sale them. She painted one white on the out side and with the carving and the lights it is goregous.
