At my place of business our CEO atates she used to open Microsoft word click on OPEN then she could open any file and it would open in its correct application (ie excel document is clicked on, it thenopens in excel). I know that this is not the case (she was prob opening in outlook as an attachement).

While in Word you can go to Open, right click on any document, and chose Open With, and then select the appropriate program to open the document in question. I find this to be a great time saver.

Agree that this is possible BUT the request was not to use Open With but use a 3rd party app to do the open with by determining from the extension which of 100s of possible programs to use that are also loaded onto the CEO's PC. Also Word would only display doc files as default. I stand by my opinion train the CEO or get another job.
