| Opera keeps opening local:10.1.1.2 outgoing to increasing port numbers | | Published by: jack 2008-11-20 |
| When I open this site:
http://www.yellowpages.com.au/siteEntry.do?ref=wpnav
and enter "cake shop" (no quotes) in the left hand box, the site attempts to get to a mapping site.
As you can see from the attached, Opera is connecting from local:10.1.1.2 to an ever increasing remote port starting somewhere around 1000 and recyling somewhere around 4000. Meanwhile Outpost uses a lot of CPU.
I never get the map.
I am connected via a Belkin ADSL router with NAT. Among other things, 10.1.1.1 is used for both DNS and DHCP. I always thought that 10.1.1.2 was the internet-facing side of the router, but I may be wrong. Outpost seems also to stop me getting to the router's interface page (10.1.1.138). I really don't think the router is the problem - so far everything else works well.
Outpost Firewall Pro ver. 3.51.759.6511 (462)
Opera Version 9.00 Build 8501
Platform Win32 System Windows XP (all patches)
Java Sun Java Runtime Environment version 1.5
I tried it and noticed the same with Opera 8.54 (not sure if you already use the new version?).
I do remember though that this particular site does not really like Opera that much. I often have issues there and usually switch to FF on this site.
Even stranger...
A while later, on another attempt at the same site
(I should have said: put in "cake shop" and "6163" in the other box)
the continuous port connections were from
localhost:any to
Sometimes get the map, sometimes don't.
