PC Magazine - Member Ratings:: The auto-update feature does not work, which is nice since I prefer manual upates. Hint: When switching firewalls, do a complete shut down after the uninstall. http://www.pcmag.com/member_ratings/0,1893,ss=0&s=1579&a=161245,00.aspHOME | Ok, so I've tried running it on Windows 2000 Server and it simply doesn't work. Since I installed it the server reboots like every fourth our and the event logs say "Outpost firewall service hung on startup". So I thought, I'll simply uninstall it.
But No.. I uninstalled, rebooted but the service still ran. It says disabled yet started in the services list. Now I've stopped it but how do I uninstall?? There's no install logs left.. and the registry is crawling with outpost-keys =(
ZNS,
Have you tried following David's Extended Outpost Uninstall/Reinstall Instructions (http://www.outpostfirewall.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7188)? Obviously you will only be interested in the uninstall portion.

I just want to state for the record that it seems that it was not Outpost Firewall that was responsible for the system crashes. It kept crashing after uninstalling too ;) Although it did hang during startup a few times which I suppose could be due to that the server crashed like every hour.
It seems it's RealVNC instead that's the responsible software. If you read my earlier post you'll figure out that I used this instead of "Windows remote desktop" to administer the server, since VNC gives you access to the console session.
Thanks for your help on uninstalling also!
