With 2.1 no problem, but with 2.5 a login is impossible. Looking into the logs there is an entry "12:28:24 svchost.exe UDP 134.28.202.14 DNS Block All Activity". O.K. block all DNS lookups by default ?? Of course there is a global rule "Allow DNS resolving(UDP)" and a second application rule for svchost.exe to do the same.
My question is: In what state is Outpost BEFORE a user log on ? What is first loaded ? Global or app rules ? Is Outpost starting with a preset other then the user defined ? Or is all the rules processing done even before the user log on ?

How to avoid this behaviour? - Allow all DNS traffic befor a user is logged on ?
Hi enabler,
Welcome to the forums. :)
In general, here is how Outpost operates during bootup:
1) Filtnt.sys (kernel driver) loads at system start up. Drivers always load first. eBooksBay » IT (2295 unread):: Image Acquisition and Processing With LabVIEWä combines the general theory of image Outpost Rules, Outpost rules for system & app.txt 7.32 kB http://www.ebooksbay.org/IT/HOME | FiringSquad: Home of the Hardcore Gamer - Games, Hardware, Reviews :: If you are developer Kerberos Productions you create Sword of the Stars, .. the worldwide leader in programmable graphics processing technologies, http://firingsquad.com/search/extended.asp?term=foll&matchexact=1&subsearch=newsHOME |
2) It loads encrypted rules from the registry, applies it and switches to Block Most mode (becuase rules wizard windows can not be shown during this stage). Outpost starts protecting you.
3) Some time passes. All 3rd party apps are started.
4) Outpost.exe is started.
5) Outpost.exe loads Outpost GUI (opst_ui.dll)
6) Outpost GUI one time uploads rules into Filtnt.sys once again.

Have a good day. :)
