Photography and traveling ?
Published by: anonym 2009-01-07

  • I'M A middle school student, and i'm wondering what career's there are that include photography and traveling, and not such a bad pay, i enjoy taking pictures and i hate being in one place for a specific time, and for more in the future what college should i attend?

  • I'm right there with you! You should look into colleges that offer "Photojournalism". You can travel around the world for different news sources, magazines and travel companies, taking pictures for their articles and issues, often with their reporting crew, though sometimes alone with travel companies/magazines like National Geographic.

  • Get a good education whatever you do! And in the meantime, start taking pictures of everything. Take all the classes in photography that you can. When you begin to see what kind of pictures you are good at, start concentrating on those types.

Study hard and get the best grades you are possible of getting. English is very important. Then no matter what kind of phototgraphy interests you in the years to come, you will be able to present yourself in a favorable light.

You will need an occupation to fall back on in case you aren't successful at photography. But work hard and you will probably do well! Good luck!

  • Realistically, those types of photo jobs are so extremely rare that they're really not worth hoping for, at least at this stage of your life. Sure, you may be the (literally) one in 10,000 that is good enough to command such a position, but when that realization hits, you'll know it.

Even being a normal, run-of-the-mill, everyday professional photographer is a difficult proposition and those of use lucky enough to be make our livings solely from photography feel extremely fortunate.

Don't get me wrong. Follow your dreams and, if you're talented and work hard, you have shot at being successful. Just don't set your sites too high.
