i'm running 2006-05-13-t3ch, and have everything working great,
however, when i go to my music or my video i do not see the choice for 'playlist' on the left hand side of the screen. i am trying to make a play list using my controller.
thanks for your help!
yes, i found it in the manual, black button, then y to add,
thanks for getting me pointed in the right direction.
how do i go about adding this bookmark? is it done through the gui or via some xml? i see under the main settings there's a skin settings on the side. it allows you to add bookmarks but all you can do is give it a name and enable/disable it. there doesn't appear to be any way to point it at some xbmc function or local drive path.
i'm using the 6-25-06 build.
also, some other issues with playlists in general. i noticed that the option "shuffle playlist on load" is gone. is there some new way to do this that i'm missing? playlists are handled like folders now, instead of loading them when you click on them, they open like a folder. i assume you're just supposed to press "0" on the remote to add it to the queue? but then i have to shuffle it manually by hitting the shuffle button. and randomize doesn't help me, because when i load a playlist and it's already shuffled, i can easily see what tracks are coming up in order and remove them from the queue if i like. if randomize is used, it just randomly jumps around, i won't know what's playing next. so that's not really helpful to me. thanks for any tips you can provide.
i quote my own post, emphasizing;
add another button with
xbmc.activatewindow(mymusic,$playlists)
i might be blind, but i don't see the word bookmark mentioned anywhere.
i think it's time to do a bit of read the f*ing manual, see my sig.
anyway, it's in the context menu. white on controller, title on remote.
is this an xbmc issue or a skin issue? i'd like to know so i can contact the right people and see what i need to do. doesn't seem like a major issue, but i'm using xbmc in my car and making things harder to navigate means i won't be moving up to the latest build.
thanks.
why do we have to manually add a bookmark for playlists now? it's so heavily used, i don't understand why it was removed. i noticed a few builds ago that it was removed and figured it was a bug. i had no way to access my playlists except going through my files, but even then it wouldn't add them to the active playlist properly. now i see it was on purpose. i don't understand your comment about "add source wizard" to add a bookmark. can you please elaborate or link me to the page in the manual where it explains how to do this?
thanks.
thanks spiff,
i have a track of music playing but do not know how to find the " now playing" selection! how do i navigate to it?
cheers
great, i'll look into that.
thanks.
oh, that should be $musicplaylists, sorry.
enqueue some stuff, open context menu, select 'now playing'. there you can save the playlists. User Guide for Cisco Digital Media Manager 5.0 - 04. now, open the add source wiz, select browse, then select the 'playlist' entry. bingo. you now have a playlist bookmark.
skin.
add another button with
xbmc.activatewindow(mymusic,$playlists)
well, that works...i at least have access to my playlists now. but how do i add it back to the left side of the display? right now by default under my music it shows view, sort by, switch view, local, network, and recordings. playlists used to be displayed at the bottom...very quick and easy access.
thanks.
maybe you're not fully understanding what i'm trying to accomplish. under skin settings from the main settings window you can add "bookmarks" to the my music home screen. i created one called playlists. now when i go to my music, i see "playlists" on the left side of the window. this is exactly what i want. unfortunately when i click on "playlists" it takes me to the root of the shares where i can select network, shoutcast, etc. so on that note i don't see the point to adding bookmarks as they'll all just take you to the root instead of a specific folder.
i assumed "button" and "bookmark" were used interchangeably. if i'm doing this incorrectly then please elaborate on how i can add a "button" as i'm not finding the manual very helpful with this. and the fact that you're specifying this by function name (activatewindow) leads me to believe i have to modify an xml file, which you haven't specified.
thanks.
open the context menu in the root bookmark listing.
select add source. have fun.
any chance you can chime in with further clarification on this, spiff?
thanks.
