I have a RAQ4 that I recently purchased from rackshack.net - I've installed MySQL 3.23.37 and PHP 4.0.6 through the Control Panel.
I can't get past step 2 installing vBulletin, here are the errors it gives me:
Warning: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket
'/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (111) in /home/sites/home/web/boards/admin/db_mysql.php on line 40
Warning: MySQL Connection Failed: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (111) in /home/sites/home/web/boards/admin/db_mysql.php on line 40
Warning: Supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home/sites/home/web/boards/admin/db_mysql.php
on line 47
The database has failed to connect because you do not have permission to connect to the server. Please go back to the last step and ensure that you have entered all your login details correctly.

I was a Cobalt Qube/Raq administrator in my previous job. http://macosx.com/forums/mac-os-x-system-mac-software/9304-web-mail-imap-pop-netinfo.htmlHOME |
Other things I've done: edited the config.php file and tried multiple combinations of usernames/passwords; updated the php.ini file with the line 'extension=mysql.so'
At one point, I had phpMyAdmin running but it is no longer loading and it gives me an error:

Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (111)
If anybody can help me out with the configuration by looking at the parameters and configuration files, please e-mail me at tofull@bellsouth.net or PM me. Thanks.
try restarting mysql
or resetting the mysql root password

It's not allowing me to do that:
[root /root]# mysqladmin -uroot -pcobalt-mysql password *****
mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed
error: 'Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql
.sock' (111)'
Check that mysqld is running and that the socket: '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' ex
ists!
When I am in FTP and go to the /var/lib/mysql/ folder I can now see the mysql.sock file but it is blank.
read http://i4net.tv/marticle/get.php?action=getarticle&articleid=20 and make sure you followed the step on securing mysql installation by changing the default mysql root password from mysql pkg installation
