Hey, guys, I just had an idea here.
How about you have this sort of photopodcast, or photocast? Say, you have a window where the audio is playing, and while it's playing we see pictures or even videos associated with the audio.
You can have like Dawn and Drew chatting about their trip to wherever and them showing pictures of the places while talking, so the listener (or viewer) gets a better idea of what happened to them during the trip (asstrap, hahah). That is more like a presentation than just a radio

It's not video. It can be, say, Flash. So you dont have bandwidth overloads, with people trying to download your podcasts. I think the idea is somewhat nice, you just have to make programs for people to easily do this themselves. Say a mini recording app, where you also load pictures to, and in real time while recording, you click on them and they become part of the final Flash file synced to audio. And I bet it won't be hard to integrate this into programs like iPodder - you'll have a seperate tab for photocasts.

That's not a problem for me, but of course, you gotta make it more user friendly for other people, hehe.
with the PupuPlayer Pro, you can create slideshows that display at any time during your show. So if you discuss a vacation at 1min 12 seconds into your show, you can put an image up. If you play music at 3min 24seconds into your show, you can display their album art. Much more control than just displaying a slideshow.

If I interpreted this correctly, it sounds like a good idea, but it wouldn't be too feasible.
The only way I could think of getting this to work is if you had an iPod photo, and could somehow hack it do do as you describe (not sure if you need a hack since i am ignorant to iPod photos).
It sounds as if you are describing something that would not be classified as a podcast, but more of an audio slide show. It might work on one of those new fancy handheld multimedia players though. That or any PDA.
I could be totally wrong in all of this though. :?
I was working on that too...
some people have used flickr for just the thing you're describing. and once or twice i've thrown in a bunch of photos into the ID3 info, and in itunes at least you can view them as a slide show.
but with itunes 4.9 coming out soon, i'm sure that the chaptered artwork piece will be even better.
That's an idea for a program :) - an easy user friendly podcast maker.
I can see it being like iMovie in a way - you have the timeline where you just recorded audio, and you throw pictures where they should appear
Darn :). The idea ended up being not quite as original as I thought, hehe.
But yeah, since you can't really play those on an iPod (maybe with Linux installed) we're pretty much limited to listening to those PhotoCasts on a PC/Mac.
I wonder if iTunes will kill iPodder.. Probably. Just the people who use alternative players will keep it. **** Apple, **** monopoly. :)
