Let us adults be examples for them?
Thanks for participating! :-)
No its not a good thing! Some people don't think about that stuff and try to provide for their families and with the way the money situation is right now that is hard to do!
i think you don't wanna tell someone they're wrong for believing what they believe and you don't want to stomp on people's dreams. especially the children. but you can't forget the adults too. when i was young it was just like "your life is over who cares" but now i've come to realize that they do have that beautiful boy within them and can still get as hyper and exited about dreams and stuff as kids too. although a little more run down by age. ehemm. just kidding. but anyways i think you can't really blame other people for you wanting to keep up with the jones's. like why not just do your own business like it's no one's business. which it is?
okay..
I'm not thinking that it would be a good thing. My relatives often spoke of "The Great Depression".
While I agree that we don't need all of the stuff that you mentioned , it is what it is. stupid hippie, just because you can't afford a decent sports car or house.
go get a decent job, and quit doing charity work nobody appreciates it.
yep, i agree. Hopefully we can start to focus on the important things again.
the recession is going to affect us all, but mainly those folks who were living beyond their means on credit will be most hurt.
I don't feel sorry for them.
I agree that it could be a good thing. However, I don't think there is anything wrong with buying your $5 favorite coffee if you worked hard for the money to be able to buy it and can afford it as well. I do think it will make some focus on what's most important because they won't have anything better to do because they are broke & bored. Of course, in any situation, not just the recession, it's always possible & best to turn the lemons into lemonade.
It might be good for those who do those things. But, I just want to be able to provide the basics for my family without worrying about every penny.
Studies have shown that the simpler you live the happier you are overall.
Perhaps this recession will help us all realize we don't need to waste our money on things we don't need.
That's a very nice thought. Though I don't think it's realistic. And I don't think these troubling times will create ANYTHING close to what you've mentioned. It's going to be crazy, hard, chaotic times. But... good for you, positive thinking is always great.
You've raised an important point, we need to get back to the basics of life!
interesting view point.
i have most of those things you described through. do i need it? ABSOLUTELY NOT. but i want it, and if you want it, go for it. Live your life the way you want to
so im not saying this recession is bad, im saying its bad for people like me.
Yes....whatever you said =
America has definitley become a culture founded on greed. Hopefully the recession will help in altering people's (esp younger generations) mindset of what is truly important in life...which aren't material possessions.
it doesn't matter to me, i'm already poor. i am on my neighbors computer because i can't even afford one
The whole world has been affected by this credit crunch thing im sick of hearing about it now. As the saying goes the rich get richer and the poor get poorer
Yes... sound good :)
Hell no to all of them!
Nice to see your avatar again!
VIVA LA RAZA!
I've been asking myself the same question
It was for my bf. He got to buy a really nice condo with appliances and granite counter tops included! He got if for a steal!
I don't think America should be so materialistic. But let me answer your question with another one. When is a Recession ever good?
Its pretty screwed up, but weve dont it to ourselves. My husband makes good money, but we still cant afford a house. Where I live, its been booming for the past 5-6 yrs and everything is so high, that we are barely surviving. Its pathetic what has happened. Everyone I know is complaining, and its not just housing, its food, gas, lodging...everything. Thank goodness we have great credit, but I dont think its gonna help us much.*
Umm no...how could it be?
You know, I agree with you 100%...time to live life the way it was meant!
