Hi folks,

This may have been explained before but I'm prepared to be flamed as I am at the end of my tether :oo:

For the longest time now I have had seek problems in all file formats. FF/RW hardly works at all in DVD's, and on Avi's is only slightly better.

This has been going on for the last year or more and has been getting progressively worse with each release I upgrade to. When I upgrade I clean install everything absolutely everything(008face folders etc) but it makes no difference....seeking is still very poor indeed.

I can only assume everyone is having this problem, I have two xbox's and they both suffer so I hope I've ruled out hardware.

Put simply, if you stream a DVD, or almost anything it seems these days, and press rewind on your remote then, well...... it doesn't rewind.

Yeah the up/down on the dpad is fine on my AVI's but it doesn't perform very well on my DVD's, I've got to the point where I almost cannot be bothered to try to replay something I've mis-heard on a DVD(this may be an ifo problem, but thats only an issue 'cos rw/ff doesnt work properly) - it could end up taking me back about 15 mins in some cases.

Afterall XBMC, for me anyway and I would guess over 90% of users is used as a Media Centre in the truest sense. All the other groovy stuff it does, which whilst extremely cool, should be secondary to the video playback being flawless.

Incidentally, I'm not knocking it - XBMC is one of those things that in 40 years time I'll look back and, entirely because of XBMC, will think the xbox was probably the best thing I ever bought. I use it every day...that's why I'm begging for the little niggles(they may not be technically little) to be sorted. It has to do the 'core' things right, in order for it to be perfect - the rest is gravy.

I think this is a known issue, not with XBMC, but playing digital files in general..... it's got to do with key frames and other stuff.

Basically the opinion seems to be that the ff/rw that they have managed is pretty amazing considering (as i seem to remember reading somewhere on these forums) that no (or very few at best) computer media players have this feature.

FF works pretty good for me on most avi's (Dont play many other file types) but rw is pretty unusable.

Best option is to use up/down/left/right on the d-pad, this works as advertised.
