I have to write a position paper in english on any topic of choice. I have chosen serial killers. however, i cannot really think of a really good stance to have on this issue. I've thought about using "predestined or developed" as one but am not sure. Do you know of any really interesting stances I could take other than "why serial killers kill" and "what make them kill?" THANKS Saddam to be executed tomorrow:: this is a big event, putting into effect the execution of this serial killer. We will take measures proportionate to this event. http://www.infowars.com/articles/iraq/saddam_to_be_executed_tomorrow.htmHOME | Russian Studies - Wrongdoing in Russian Literature and Beyond:: We will take a cross-cultural approach as we juxtapose Russian texts with those they seek textual clues to solve the mystery of a literary texts moral stance. http://www.macalester.edu/russian/courses/wrongdoing.htmlHOME |
Mentally ill, or evil?
Write about how most serial killers were normal everyday people, some even had wives and children.
They truely aren't the monsters society has made them out to be. Most of them only killed low life people, like hookers.
I was recently doing research on the real Hannibal Lecter and found this great website. From there you can find a lot of good links. It's kind of creepy but interesting. Good Luck on your paper......................KB Review: Chopper (2000) : In Film Australia - all about Australian films:: you establish the essence of a serial killer character without a) making what A film like Chopper cannot afford to take this stance because there is too much http://www.infilm.com.au/?p=42HOME |
No, those are all good options. You have a lot of research that is possible to use. You might want to reference the book "American Psycho" as an example of a supposedly normal person with a taste for thrill-killing. Also the Leopold & Loeb case and the defense provided by Clarence Darrow.
It's a position paper - so give your opinion on a specific topic involving serial killers - say: Are babies born bi sexual? What about serial killers.pedophiles and :: In a way, they are a clean slate, so I think its the external influences they Unless you take an absolutist hard determinist stance, its unlikely anyone will http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080620091929AAozW3BHOME | TV with MeeVee: The Mentalist: Psychics need not apply:: are connections to the elusive serial killer whose path Jane has crossed unusual for network TV shows, which usually take the stance of a presidential http://blog.meevee.com/my_weblog/2008/09/the-mentalist-b.htmlHOME |
What should be done with them after they are caught (studied, put to death, etc...).
Then support your stance, as well as addressing the possible objections.

John S... Are you kidding?
What about "preventable or unavoidable?" Like if you caught a pattern in childhood, could steps be taken to prevent the development of sociopathic behaviors? Or will a sociopath develop no matter what? They say that you can't change a sociopath no matter what you do - what if you recognized it from childhood, does it still hold true?
This website will help you out a lot: http://www.trutv.com/library/crime/
It has a list of famous serial killers and their stories. You can compare their childhoods and see what all of them have in common... then go from there. Look at their family life... how did they treat animals? Were they loners in school? Were their parents divorced? Ask yourself questions like that.
Most serial killers start with insects, and then work up to household pets... then people... Nature or nurture... the eternal argument.
Without doing your homework for you, LOL. Consider this....
Introverted vs. extroverted, Only child, Middle child, Abuse from parents or coddled.
Start thinking out of the box a little. You'll have much better luck, and a better grade too.
