folks,
i am experiencing severe stutterring with dvd playback on all resolutions (480p 16:9, 720p 16:9). i have increased cache settings and tried several times. it repeatedly stutters. i have also tried xbmc360 june 18th version, june1 version and even may version. so far my only option is to move the vob files directly into the harddrive and play as is instead of using the dvd drive on xbox.

what can i do to eliminate this? please advice. i hate to bring in a dvd player into my system list just to play dvd's. i love xbmc too much to give up this easy. please help...

thanks. i will give it a shot tonight. but based on my experience with several audio cd's and video cds, i would not say this is a generic occurence. i experience this with some dvds from blockbuster online rental. i invariably assumed that because i was upconverting it, i have these issue.
easiest check will be to default to xbox dash and play the dvd. if it plays well, i know its not my dvd drive. will do tonight.
in the question lies the answer...
if you can play the files from the local harddisk without issue and you cannot play them from the dvd drive, it logically follows that the issue is with your dvd drive and its ability to read stuff in a consistent manner.
to determine that this is not the case, please try using some other dvd player software (maybe avalaunch?). if that works, then you know your system is physically capable of dvd playback.
i have never experienced this, but have experienced the dvd drives in various systems crapping out or just randomly becoming unreliable. a friend of mine has a box which is just plain incapable of reading regular factory pressed video dvds.
