hi all,
i only installed vista yesterday on the older of my two machines, a p4 200ghz with 1.25 gb ram and although it can run slow at times it is ok. i use this pc to hold all my media files that i view on xbmc.

however my xbox xbmc cannot read the shared folders. my other machine, a win xp 2005 mc can read the files fine from the vista machine but whenever i log onto xbmc and try to open a folder to watch a video clip or view my photos it keeps prompting me for a username and password. i have input the username and pasword i use for both computers but no joy. i have even input the username and password into the settings for smb share on xbmc but still no luck. i have hunted around on vista for allowing users to get access (even closing down the firewall) and have allowed 'everyone' full access but i still cannot get access to the media files. it can view the folders perfectly, i tested this by creating a new folder, new share and editing the .xml file and it shows the new folder but i cannot get it to access any of those folders.
