Hi folks. I am new here an hope for some support.
I have moved from ZAPro to Outpost 2.5. All very new to me and I do have a lot to re-learn.
When I run grc.com´s Shields Up I get the following info.
""Attempting connection to your computer. . .
Shields UP! is now attempting to contact the Hidden Internet Server within your PC. It is likely that no one has told you that your own personal computer may now be functioning as an Internet Server with neither your knowledge nor your permission. And that it may be serving up all or many of your personal files for reading, writing, modification and even deletion by anyone, anywhere, on the Internet!

What is wrong in my system due to this??
I run Win-XP SP2, DSL with Netgear router
TDS-3, Process Guard 3.1, Ad-Aware, NOD32, Port Explorer and a few more.

Hi MichaelE,
I am amazed that it took 15 minutes for the test as it normally takes much less time. But it is good to know that you are not having any problems at this point. If you do have any questions, you know where to come. ;)
Have a nice day. :)
David.
Thank you for the welcome and advise.
Have followed your instructions and when running Shields Up again and waiting for over 15 minutes it looks like they cannot find me?? :)
Could this be the case?
I have set the OP to Stealth mode..
Regards
Michael
Hi Michael,
Welcome to the forums. :)
This is just a message noting the scanners attempt to access your system. If you allow the test to finish, you should see that no connection was actually made. This is just a test to see if you have File and Printer Sharing activated and exposed to the internet. If you want to be sure, just choose, Options -> System. Under the LAN Settings section, click on the 'Settings' button. Remove any IP from the list and then remove the check, if it exists, next to Auto-detect new network settings. However, if you are sharing files within your home, you will have to manually add IPs for those other computers and allow them NetBIOS access. I would still keep the option for automatically detecting new networks unchecked in any case.
Have a nice day. :)
