Mix ID 5996:: landed on various torrent sites, and while it appears to be genuine, there are no guarantees. In a healthy project we would expect to see a large http://www.rssmix.com/u/5996HOME | Seems to lag quite a bit when moving from menu to menu.
There isn't a separate installer for 64bit right? Just trying to figure out why it's not any quicker
I'll check that out. I think part of it was using the mouse on the main screen which I guess isn't supposed to be quick
As for Specs
HD 4850
Quad CPU
4gb Ram
64bit Vista
No problem here even on single core CPUs.
Out of curiosity...(and quite possibly related) while in the XBMC menus, I am seeing about 50% core usage continually. While playing an AVI it drops to about 3% for the duration of the show then back to idling around 50% when back in the XBMC menus.
Known problem (search the forum to get the background). Try turning off vsync for the gui and see if it makes any difference.

Hardware specs? Which OS?
I am having basically the same problem. The mouse is always sluggish whereas the remote is about 50% of the time. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to when it happens. NSLU2-Linux - Info / WhatPeopleAreReallyUsingTheirSlugsFor browse:: It was all good fun and I am expecting to get a lot more - adding mail server, ( The only moving parts in my network are in the printer: no fans, no disks. http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/Info/WhatPeopleAreReallyUsingTheirSlugsForHOME |
It's not a big deal compared to the other issues I'm having but I thought I'd at least chime in and let the OP know they aren't alone.
System Info:
- XBMC Beta 2 (10-06-08)
- AMD 3.0GHz Dual-Core / 2GB RAM (1.5G System, 512M allocated to IGP)
- Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H w/ ATI Radeon HD3200 IGP / Catalyst 8.9
- Vista SP1 32-bit
I have almost the same setup as you except slower processor and don't have the sluggish problem. The only difference is I'm running Vista Ultimate, which I wouldn't think would make a difference.
...and first (always) make sure that you got the very latest graphics device drivers installed for for graphics controller :;):

I find Project Mayhem III works a lot faster on my single core than the default skin.
I'd recommend you try turning off vsync in settings

It's not all of the time, just occasionally. I'll press down for example and it will take 5 seconds or so to move. Then it'll be fine for a while. I'm going to keep looking though...

I would expect it to be the other way around?!
@Sho: I tried disabling vertical sync. The menus seemed to be a bit quicker (I think) but I got terrible tearing both in the menus, and more importantly during video playback, so that was a short lived test. :sniffle:
