smart @ss answers usually get reported or deleted and end up having the user lose points anyway. Giving other people extra options to take points away from someone answering is just adding more time for the Y!A community to kill time. Not necessarily bad, or good. But most everyone is just on here to either pass time, or to somehow build their self esteem by proving that they know something, to anyone, or just to have fun bothering people and reading / answering ridiculous questions with ridiculous answers.
Maybe we should have a way to rate how awful someone's question is also.
It has been suggested before, but the YA team does not seem to think it is a viable option. You can always try suggesting it again, though. Yes, I think that would be a great idea. The person having the worst answer should lose points. This would keep people from giving smart@$$ answers to questions that may be very important to others. I see no reason for having such a option because we need the best answer to solve our problems and if the answer is really bad, very likely it is a violation anyway.
