My GSD is going to be 2 years this month. A happy puppy by all accounts. Earlier this year, I took him to a groomer and had the full service done. Within a couple days, he developed hard, crusty scabs at he base of his hair follicles. Took him to the vet and we were given an anti-bacterial shampoo. Applied it and all is well.
Last week, I took him to the same groomer. They offer a self wash bay for people that want to do it themselves. I washed him head to toe. Within a couple days, he developed some itchy bumps on one side (about mid back to tail). They are soft bumps, around the follicles. Today, I used the shampoo from the vet.
The skin around the area is normal color (no redness/bleeding/etc). The bumps are feel a bit moist, no puss, just damp.
I have bathed him at home (a couple times) with a different kind of shampoo with no problems. eBay Guides - Allergic to Pets and Pets with Allergies:: Beef is a very common allergen for pets, so if your pet is allergic to it, don't forget to ask your Pyoben Shampoo for Skin Problems in Dogs & Cats 16oz http://reviews.ebay.com/Allergic-to-Pets-and-Pets-with-Allergies_W0QQugidZ10000000006097226HOME |
Does my lil fella have an allergy to their shampoo or a skin condition? Or since he is a double coat, is he not being rinsed off enough?
Thank you in advance to all that answer.
IT COULD BE SOMETHING AT THE GROOMERS CAUSING IT, I.E, DIRTY CONDITIONS THAT YOU CANT SEE , OR IT COULD BE STRESS INDUCED BY THE TRIP IN GENERAL. MAYBE YOU SHOULD TRY BATHING AT HOME FOR THE NEXT FEW TIMES. YOU CAN BUY HYPO-ALLERGENIC SHAMPOO FOR PETS! GOOD LUCK
probably just allergic to that shampoo
