hello,
i’m exporting some music/video folders from a dreambox (running linux) with samba.
the files within the folders have french character sets that makes xbmc un-happy.
here is an extract of the dreambox smb.conf:
client code page = 850
character set = iso8859-1
mapping a dreambox folder on my win2k shows up correctly the french characters.

thenm looking at the xbmc.log (xbmc samba debug level increased to 10), i have found the following things:

then i created the following smb.conf in the xbmc home directory (q:\)
[global]
* client code page = 850
* character set = iso8859-1
* preserve case = yes
but that’s do not change the error in xbmc.log.
i believe that the best way to address this problem is to find a way to configure the xbmc smb client with the right character set.
any idea?

i forgot to tell that a win2k share (that contains mp3 with french character set) behave exactly the same way of the smb share of my dreambox.
that prove it should be fixed on the xbmc side.

i would love to know if it's a miss configuration or if it must be a rfe (request for enhancement)...
