I would wait till you get a dog to pick out a name. The right name will depend on the dog breed, size gender, appearance and personality.

I just think that you should wait until you actually get the dog. Name choices may differ upon getting a certain breed or mix. Sounds like you want a male and she wants a female. Good luck with your search for a new dog.

when I got my first dog I had a name all picked out, when I picked him up I called him Jed all the way home, when we got there my boyfriend decided to throw around a few names, when he said Maverick the dog turned right around and looked at him, we have called him that ever since. Not to say that your dog might love the name you give him or her, just wanted to share.
Consider a name that not only sounds neat for a dog, but one that may have some pleasant meaning to you both. Maybe a name that reminds you of something significant in your relationship, etc. A short name with strong vowels (like the ones you suggested) are good names for dogs -- as opposed to ones with lots of consonant sounds that may be difficult for your dog to discern in a noisy environment.
