Hi all, I've been using flash for video for a while now. I made a swanky flash video component for my company's content management system which allows people to upload an FLV to a page and be able to play the video straight away.
But someone wants me to create something similar that will allow me to stream an Mpeg file through an SWF. I have done similar things before with streaming an MP3 from a file, but never an Mpeg.
I've looked around for a while and can't find any solution other than converting the video to flv and then streaming it. This is no good for me because I need to allow morons to be able to upload their own mpgs, and getting them to convert their files to flv will result in disaster. Does anyone know of a way to make this possible?
thanks!
okay thanks guys for clearing this up. I have searched for a way to do this and am now relieved to know that it's definitely impossible!
At least I know!
Thanks
I ain't quite sure, but I heard something about server side encoding of video to flv.
That would probably have been ffmpeg.
Only flv is allowed for streaming in flash.
Mpeg can be displayed in quickTime.
